• · May is National Strawberry Month Sweet and bright, we eat them fresh out of the garden, blend them in smoothies, add them to parfaits and bake them into pies. Did you know Strawberries belong to the rose family and reproduce from runners, not seeds. There are over 400 different varieties, and each berry produces approximately 200 seeds on the outside of the fruit. They're nutritious, low in sugar and excellent sources of vitamins C and K. Yum, can you say, “Strawberry Shortcake?”

Here are some interesting facts about me:

• I was born and raised in Torrance, California.

• I graduated from Torrance High School.

• I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Cal State Northridge.

• I have been happily married to my sweetheart, Gayle, for over 41 years.

• Our family is blessed with 6 children, their spouses,8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

• During my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with my family.

• I have served as the Director and Past Chair of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, now known as the West Ventura County Business Alliance.

• I have also been a Director and Past Chair of Goodwill Industries for Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties.

• Member of Peace Lutheran Church in Camarillo.

• I have been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a previous Scoutmaster and Cubmaster.

• I have also managed and coached youth sports teams.
