In many parts of the country, it is the cornerstone of summer vacation or woven into after school programs. Ways to observe National Volunteer Month, Thank a volunteer or Become a Volunteer! Many volunteers will tell you it is a rewarding experience. You don't have to have a ton of time. Do you have a special talent or skill that may benefit a charity or organization? Offer your services or ask how you can be of help.

• I was born and raised in Torrance, California.

• I graduated from Torrance High School.

• I hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Cal State Northridge.

• I have been happily married to my sweetheart, Gayle, for over 39 years.

• Our family is blessed with 6 children, their spouses, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

• During my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with my family.

• I have served as the Director and Past Chair of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, now known as the West Ventura County Business Alliance.

• I have also been a Director and Past Chair of Goodwill Industries for Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties.

• At Peace Lutheran Church in Camarillo, I hold the position of Elder.

• I have been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a previous Scoutmaster and Cubmaster.

• I have also managed and coached youth sports teams.
