• Veterans Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 11th, paying tribute to all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces in war or peace. The commemoration traces its origin to the 1918 armistice that concluded World War I, later retitled from Armistice Day to Veterans Day in 1954. Every year, Americans mark the occasion with parades, ceremonies, and wreath-laying events. We thank all who have served.

• Thanksgiving Day is an annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people. The American holiday is particularly rich in legend and symbolism, and the traditional fare of the Thanksgiving meal typically includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie.

Here are some interesting facts about me:

• I was born and raised in Torrance, California.

• I graduated from Torrance High School.

• I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Cal State Northridge.

• I have been happily married to my sweetheart, Gayle, for over 44 years.

• Our family is blessed with 6 children, their spouses,9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

• During my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with my family.

• I have served as the Director and Past Chair of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, now known as the West Ventura County Business Alliance.

• I have also been a Director and Past Chair of Goodwill Industries for Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties.

• Member of Peace Lutheran Church in Camarillo.

• I have been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a previous Scoutmaster and Cubmaster.

• I have also managed and coached youth sports teams.
